Meet the Artist Behind Strange Angel
Sarah VandeWiele.
Strange Angel Creations grew out of a lifelong love of making things by hand and a desire to create jewelry Sarah would genuinely want to wear herself - pieces that feel expressive, unusual, and completely at home in an alternative wardrobe.
Where It Started
Creativity Was Always Around
Sarah grew up around creativity. Her mom was the kind of person who was more likely to cover the kitchen table with a project than use it for dinner, and jewelry became one of many crafts Sarah explored while growing up.
That willingness to experiment never really left. Making things by hand became less about following a formula and more about seeing where an idea could go.
Then Came Strange Angel
Strange Angel Creations began after Sarah visited a friend working several craft markets. Seeing handmade work in that setting inspired her to start designing jewelry around a simple idea: make the kind of pieces she would actually want to wear, exactly the way she liked them.
The result is jewelry that moves between gothic and alternative influences, sometimes leaning into a streetwear feel, while still leaving room for each piece to become something different.

Strange Angel is for the people who like finding creative ways to express themselves — the weirdos, the individualists, and anyone drawn to something beautiful that is just a little unexpected.
Sarah wants each piece to feel like the thing that finally pulls a look together. Sometimes that means an everyday staple. Sometimes it means something bold enough to become the entire point of the outfit.
What matters most is that the person wearing it feels like they found something that helps them express themselves in a way that feels natural to them.
What Shapes the Work
Music
Music often sets the mood while Sarah works. Sometimes a piece takes on the same energy as whatever she happens to be listening to while building it.
Fashion
A great outfit can immediately become a jewelry idea. Sarah often looks at clothing and starts thinking about what kind of accessory would finish the look.
Instinct
Not every piece begins with a detailed plan. Sometimes Sarah simply looks at what she has in front of her, starts building, and lets the design develop from there.
Why Stainless Steel?
Sarah is drawn to stainless steel because it is durable, versatile, and visually striking. She loves the way it works with her own style and the way it can move between something simple and something much more dramatic.
It also gives her a strong foundation to build from while pendants, charms, stones, and other details can change the personality of a piece completely.
Custom Work
One of Sarah's favorite parts of making jewelry is taking somebody else's idea and helping turn it into something they can actually wear.
Whether the starting point is a previous Strange Angel piece, a theme, an outfit, a reference image, or an idea that only exists in someone's head, seeing that person fall in love with the finished piece is part of what makes custom work worth doing.
